SHOPWYKE LAKES, CHICHESTER
Planning application submitted: January 2012
Shopwyke Lakes is a previously developed site of 80 acres to the east of Chichester. Hanbury Properties and JTP architects held a series of community briefings and a community planning weekend on 8th - 10th July 2011. This gave our team the opportunity of understanding and listening to the needs and ideas of local people, which in turn enabled us to come up with a development proposal that is community led.
We believe this scheme would provide a new ‘Gateway to Chichester’ and deliver much needed housing and employment to satisfy local need. Shopwyke Lakes will be energy efficient, concentrating on renewable energy and providing a sustainable urban drainage system.
Shopwyke Lakes will deliver a high quality extension to Chichester supported by a comprehensive package of sustainable links between the site, Chichester and the surrounding area. Our proposals will also retain existing lakes and woodlands and provide a new city park.
THE PROPOSALS WOULD DELIVER:
- 500 residential homes
- Elderly care accommodation provided in a parkland setting
- Substantial new job creation
- 30 acre new public park for leisure and recreation
- Neighbourhood centre, sports pitches and community buildings
